(RADIO.COM) – After Dead and Company wrapped up their two-night engagement at Fenway Park, Boston fans likely believed the major excitement was over. Then for the encore, Paul McCartney joined the Dead's Bob Weir for a pair of numbers. It was the first time the two legends ever performed together. New England Patriots tight end Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski also joined the band onstage.

Weir and McCartney performed Wings' 1972 hit "Hi, Hi, Hi" and the Beatles' "Helter Skelter," reported Billboard, McCartney captured the historic collaboration with some high-quality Instagram shots. Gronk's contribution—playing hand guitar—surely gave Patriots fans something to talk about on the drive home.
