Crews Contain Grass Fire That Scorched 35 Acres Between Concord and Pittsburg

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- East Bay fire crews battling a 35-acre brush fire between Concord and Pittsburg Sunday afternoon had the blaze contained shortly after 3:30 p.m., fire officials said.

The two-alarm Kirker Fire was sparked by a car fire about 1:10 p.m. along Kirker Pass Road near Nortonville Road, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The CHP said a sedan hit a barrier then caught fire at around 1 o'clock. Authorities told KPIX that one person, believed to be the driver, was injured.
