Grass fire burns 44 acres on the Altamont, 75% contained

LIVERMORE -- A grass fire in Alameda County that grew to 44 acres was 75% contained Saturday afternoon, Cal Fire said.

Firefighters from Cal Fire's Santa Clara Unit responded to the fire northeast of Livermore, dubbed the Greenville Fire, about 11 a.m.

The blaze occurred in dry vegetation off Altamont Pass Road and North Greenville Road, just north of Interstate Highway 580 in the unincorporated community of Altamont.

Forward progress was stopped at about 12:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.

There were no reports of structures damaged or injuries as of Saturday afternoon.

The cause is under investigation.
