GRAMMYs Album of the Year: Inside Beyoncé's 'Beyoncé'

By Courtney E. Smith

With her December 2013 surprise release of the self-titled fifth album Beyoncé, she set the formula for how a successful album launch looked on its ear. In addition to changing the whole paradigm on marketing an album, Beyoncé released a dual audio and visual album, complete with music videos to accompany every track—something only a few artists have done before. Beyoncé sold over a million copies in its first week of release, despite being available only on iTunes.

This year, the album is nominated for the GRAMMYs Album of the Year, while Beyoncé herself is nominated for another six awards.

Radio.com examines Beyoncé's in interviews with writers for Rolling Stone, Billboard, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Buzzfeed, the Associated Press and Flavorwire.

"I think Beyoncé stands a really good chance of coming out on top with Album of the Year," said Reggie Ugwu of Buzzfeed. "It's a consensus record that everyone seems to love... [and] it performed really well; it was one of the biggest selling albums of the year. I think the music industry in general, whose members largely make up the Recording Academy, live in fear and awe of Beyoncé."
