Governor Brown's Drought Task Force Meets With SF Public Utilities Commission
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Members of Gov. Jerry Browns' interagency Drought Task Force came to San Francisco Monday to meet with local government officials to learn more about efforts to respond to the drought.
It was the eighth time the task force, which includes local governments and stakeholder leaders from throughout Northern California, met.
"While it's a crisis situation; really, to a degree, it's going to become the new norm in California," said Mark Ghilarducci with the governor's Office of Emergency Services.
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee pointed out that since 2007, the city has reduced its water use by 20 percent.
While all 58 California counties are impacted by the drought, agricultural counties in the Central Valley are experiencing it the worst.
Local drinking supplies and emergencies and what local governments are doing to encourage conservation were also topics of discussion.
