Experience A Surreal Spacewalk With GoPro-Armed NASA Astronauts
INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (CBS SF) -- Tweets, photos and time-lapse videos taken by astronauts at the International Space Station give earthlings an instantaneous glimpse of life beyond our atmosphere.
Now new videos taken with GoPro cameras puts us in the astronaut's shoes -- just try not to get dizzy.
U.S. astronaut Terry Virts shot the footage during two spacewalks from February and March. He floats through the space station before heading outside for mechanical work while the Earth is seen rapidly rotating in the distance.
In the first hour-long video, Virts is accompanied by fellow astronaut Barry "Butch" Wilmore as he routes cables in preparation for the arrival of two International Docking Adapters this year.
The pair is then seen installing several antennas for the visiting vehicles systems which will be used by commercial flights like Boeing's Crew Transportation System and the SpaceX Crew Dragon in the coming years.
