Google Glass Guidelines Tell Users Don't Be 'Creepy Or Rude' Or A 'Glasshole'
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) - Google has released a list of dos and don'ts for users of Google Glass and, and acknowledged the increasing use of a derogatory word for a person sporting the wearable computer.
Among the list of etiquette tips for Glass 'explorers'- what Google calls Glass users – is one that says don't "be creepy or rude (aka, a "Glasshole")."
The term 'glasshole' has been floating around ever since Google released the devices to the public.
Google said to avoid being called a glasshole, users should respect others and 'don't get snappy' if people have questions about Glass or ask users to turn it off. "Breaking the rules or being rude will not get businesses excited about Glass and will ruin it for other Explorers."
Other tips can be rather obvious, such as asking for permission before taking photos of videos of others. "Standing alone in the corner of a room staring at people while recording them through Glass is not going to win you any friends."
The dos and don'ts list also offers tips on how to best use the device and how to respond to people when they inevitably have questions about Glass.
