George Lucas Facing Possible Lawsuit Over Chicago Museum Site Proposal
CHICAGO (CBS SF) -- George Lucas may be facing a lawsuit over his proposal to build a $1 billion museum in Chicago.
Lucas is facing political opposition from Chicago open space advocates who say the proposed 95,000 square foot Museum of Narrative Art would violate city ordinances created to protect public space, Rolling Stone reported.
Lucas' proposal sets the museum on lakefront real estate near Soldier Field, prompting outcry from a range of opponents, including Chicago Bears fans worried about losing two parking lots, and aldermen who think the museum should be located downtown.
A plan that would have set the museum near Crissy Field in San Francisco was squashed by the Presidio Trust, leading Lucas to eventually pick Chicago.
San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee called their decision "unwise."
