Update: BART Service in Downtown Oakland Restored Following Gas Leak
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- BART service through downtown Oakland resumed and stations reopened after a gas leak was capped Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The leak was reported at 9:35 a.m. after construction crews not affiliated with PG&E hit a 4-inch line at 20th Street and Broadway, PG&E said. The leak was stopped at 1:15 p.m.
Fire and PG&E crews responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
The 19th Street and 12th Street-Oakland City Center stations were shuttered after the leak was reported.
The stations reopened and trains were making normal stops as of 1:30 p.m.
BART service has been restored through Downtown Oakland. Trains for all destinations will make normal stops at 19th St Oakland and 12th St Oakland City Center.
