Police Arrest Suspect In $1,200 Gaming Console Armed Robbery

PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Investigators have arrested a 30-year-old Hayward man thought to be the outstanding suspect in an armed robbery at a Palo Alto electronics store in January.

Police believe that David Gandara and his partner Jason Fayad, a 24-year-old resident of Hayward, stole three gaming consoles at gun-point from Fry's Electronics at 340 Portage Ave. on the afternoon of Jan. 28.

The consoles were estimated at $1,200 in value.

During their escape, Gandara allegedly pointed a handgun at a loss-prevention employee, according to police.

Fayyad was arrested Feb. 4 and charged with robbery and commercial burglary. It was later determined that the other suspect, Gandara, had been arrested by the San Leandro Police Department.

Palo Alto police served Gandara's arrest warrant March 12 at the Alameda County Main Jail, where he was already in custody on gun and drug charges out of San Leandro.

Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call the Palo Alto Police Department at (650) 329-2413.
