Frank Thomas, Tony La Russa Inducted Into Baseball Hall Of Fame

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (CBS/AP) – Two former Oakland Athletic ball club members were inducted into the baseball's Hall of Fame.

Frank Thomas, the most accomplished slugger in Chicago White Sox history was inducted along with former Oakland Athletics manager Tony La Russa.

Nicknamed "The Big Hurt" for his bat prowess, Thomas won AL MVP awards in 1993 and 1994 and finished his 19-year career with a .301 batting average, 521 homers and 1,704 RBIs. He's also the only player in major league history with seven straight seasons with a .300 average, 20 homers, 100 RBIs and 100 walks, and the first Hall of Famer who spent the majority of his career as a designated hitter.

La Russa managed the A's from 1986-1995 during a career ending with 2,728 wins under his belt, the third most of any manager in the majors.
