Food Fight Game Becomes First To Launch For Google Glass & iPhone
MENLO PARK (CBS SF) - The next time a San Francisco bar patron wearing Google Glass gets into a scuffle it may be the virtual kind. A team of Menlo Park game developers have launched their first ever game for people using the wearable computer; it's dubbed Global Food Fight.
Menlo Park-based Mind Pirate created the game which is the "first game to launch simultaneously on iPhone and Google Glass and is a free-to-play massively-multiplayer, location-based 3D action game that allows players to engage in food fights with friends, foes, celebrities and politicians from around the world."
The company says they used their own platform, known as Castillo, to create the game. They say the platform, which can be used by other developers, maximizes the wearable technology trend by allowing "interactive experiences that can be started and continued across device types with information preserved in the cloud."
In Global Food Fight, players locate opponents via GPS map and score points by plunking other players via slingshot with fruit, vegetables and even pastries. Here's the company's promotional video for the game:
The eye-wear has been the source some real world tension in recent weeks after a Bay Area woman said she was attacked for wearing the Google Glass at a bar in San Francisco's Lower Haight last month. That claim set off a social media backlash, and led to several establishments banning the wearing of the device.
