Firefighters Detain Carjacking Suspect After Smash-Ups Near SF City Hall

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A fire engine crew detained a suspected carjacker who hit several vehicles while driving from Market Street to near City Hall in San Francisco Wednesday morning, a fire spokeswoman said.

The carjacker drove from Market Street and Van Ness Avenue to Polk and Grove streets, where he was detained by a fire engine crew at about 10:30 a.m., fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The crew kept him there until police arrived to take over the investigation, Talmadge said.

Police were not immediately available to provide more details about the incident.
