Firefighters Contain Fairfield Brush Fire That Burned More Than 100 Acres
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A two-alarm brushfire that burned 117 acres and threatened 12 houses Friday evening has been contained, the Fairfield fire department said.
The department credited a quick response in containing the fire at Redtop and McGary roads with no structures damaged and no injuries reported.
Smoke from the fire, reported around 5 p.m., could be seen all around the Fairfield area.
Crews will remain at the scene for mop-up and monitoring, the department said.

There were some reports that the Fairfield fire was suspicious. The latest blaze in the region comes only two days after a large brush fire in nearby Suisun City destroyed or damaged 11 homes.
That fire is being investigated as arson. No one has been arrested so far.
Suisun City fire chief Justin Vincent said the fire is considered arson even if the suspects didn't intend to burn down nearby buildings and homes. Once those suspects are arrested, the chief said they would face "reckless arson" charges.
