UPDATE: Firefighter, Civilian Injured In 2-Alarm House Fire In East San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A firefighter and a civilian were injured during a two-alarm fire at a home in East San Jose Monday, fire officials reported.

The San Jose Fire Department reported shortly after 11 a.m. that crews had responded to the fire at a single-story, single-family home on the 100 block of Laumer Ave. about a block southeast of Alum Rock Ave.

The fire declared under control at 12:43 p.m. One firefighter and one civilian had to be taken to the hospital because of injuries. There was no immediate word of their condition.

Firefighters were able to respond quickly to the fire and prevent its spread to other homes because a fire task force had been pre-positioned in the area since last week due to high fire danger, the fire department said.

The Red Cross responded to assist seven displaced residents, the fire department said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
