About 30 firefighters are still on the scene of a Rockridge bookstore that became engulfed in flames early Tuesday morning, but the Oakland Fire Department said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire was reported at about 5:25 a.m. at East Bay Booksellers, located at 5433 College Ave.

About 60 firefighters responded to the blaze, which spread to one other building and caused five tenants to be displaced, according to the Oakland Fire Department.

There is currently no vehicle traffic permitted on College Ave. between Manila Ave. and Lawton Ave. due to the fire response for the incident.

The building on the other side of the bookstore, home to the cocktail bar George & Walt's, was not damaged by the fire, Hunt added.

No injuries have been reported and crews remained on scene later Tuesday morning.

Investigators hope to use surrounding surveillance footage to determine where the fire began, which may point to a potential cause.
