Final Prep Underway Before Earthquakes Play In First-Ever Sporting Event At Levi's Stadium
SANTA CLARA COUNTY (CBS SF) -- There's one day left before the first-ever sporting event at the Santa Clara 49ers stadium.
The San Jose Earthquakes will christen Levi's Stadium in a Major League Soccer match Saturday evening.
It's been a slow and steady build-up with each event getting bigger than the last.
Saturday's match will be one of the biggest for the Earthquakes who are expecting 46,000 people, according to a team spokesperson. Only a few tickets are left.
It will also be the first test of traffic in the area, which Santa Clara police have tweaked over the last month. They'll be putting to use everything they've learned from past tests, including last week's event when season pass ticket holders did a stadium walk-through.
The Earthquakes just signed a five-year deal to hold at least one regular season game a year at the stadium.
