Fatal Big Rig Crash Closes Fairfield Highway Ramp Thursday Night

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- The Interstate Highway 80 to 680 connecting ramp in Fairfield was closed Thursday evening following a fatal big rig crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The big-rig overturned on the eastbound 80 to the southbound 680 connector at 4:39 p.m., the CHP said.

The ramp was blocked by the overturned big rig and littered with debris and liquid spilled on to the roadway.

The Solano County coroner's office was called to the scene and the identity of the driver involved has not yet been released, a CHP official said.

The connecting ramp was reopened around 1:40 a.m. Friday morning as workers cleared the debris ahead of schedule, according to the CHP.
