1 Dead In Fiery Multi-Car Crash On I-580 In Pleasanton

PLEASANTON (CBS SF) – A fatal crash Wednesday morning on westbound Interstate Highway 580 near Interstate Highway 680 in Pleasanton blocked several lanes for hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 5:55 a.m. just west of Hopyard Road, CHP officials said.

There were reportedly six vehicles involved in the crash, including a big-rig, and at least three vehicles caught fire, according to the CHP. At least one person was killed in the crash.

Multiple lanes were closed following the crash, prompting the CHP to allow all drivers to use the express lane on the highway. All lanes reopened as of 9:07 a.m.
