Soccer Matchup For Levi's Stadium Debut To Be Way More Affordable Than 49ers Game
SANTA CLARA (KCBS) – Fans anxious to see the San Francisco 49ers new stadium in Santa Clara will have the chance to do so at a relative discount.
Ticket prices have been set for the first-ever sporting event at Levi's Stadium – a Major League Soccer matchup featuring the San Jose Earthquakes and Seattle Sounders FC. The cheapest seats are going for $45, almost half the price of the least expensive NFL ticket, which is priced at $85.
The Quakes game is the soft launch for the new stadium before the 49ers begin play with a more formal unveiling.
For now, only fans that bought the most expensive seat licenses are able to purchase tickets to the August 2 soccer match. Sales will open up to the general public on March 14.
"There's a lot of people that are buying tickets," said Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews. "They're excited about the 'other football' being played there on August 2 to kick us off. And we're excited about testing out this beautiful new stadium that we have."
Matthews said stadium construction remains on schedule , thanks in part to the dry winter.
"That gave us the advantage of being able to work on days, where we would have otherwise not been able to because of the weather," he said
In addition to being the home of the 49ers, Levi's Stadium is expected to host dozens of other events, including soccer matches, concerts and college football games.
