Fairfield CHP Sergeant Arrested for Possession Of Child Porn
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- A California Highway Patrol sergeant has been arrested in connection with a child pornography investigation, police said.
Vacaville police on Thursday arrested 49-year-old Sgt. Eric Lund of Chico, on suspicion of sending or selling obscene matter depicting a minor and possession of obscene matter depicting a minor engaging in sexual acts.
Lund works out of the Fairfield CHP office.
Police said the department launched an investigation in August into the downloading and sharing of child pornography by an unknown person in Suisun, Fairfield and Vacaville.
Officers identified Lund as a suspect and contacted the CHP for assistance in the investigation.
Police said officers searched the CHP sergeant's personal vehicle on Thursday and found an external hard drive containing several downloaded child pornography videos.
Lund was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail, where his bail was set at $115,000. He posted bail Friday and has been released, police said.
