FAA May Target Drone Pilots Who Upload Videos To YouTube
(CBS SF) – If you fly a drone and post the aerial footage on YouTube, you could get a warning from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The FAA said because there are ads on the video site, the footage is considered commercial and commercial use of drones has stricter regulations and enforcement.
Last week, Jayson Hanes of Florida received a cease and desist letter from the FAA, saying he was violating the rules for regularly uploading his videos to YouTube. Hanes has told reporters that he has not done anything commercial.
The agency, however, has not regulated hobby use of drones.
