Electrical Fire Causes Huge Comcast Outage Across Central, Northern California
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Thousands of Comcast phone, Internet and TV customers in Central and Northern California were without service Wednesday.
According to the Fresno Bee, an electrical fire at Comcast's Fresno facility caused the outage.
As of noon, engineers were still working to repair control panels damaged in the blaze.
According to Comcast 'downdetector' website, the outage began around 9:20 a.m. PST. More than half of the problems reported were Internet-related. About a quarter were television-related, and 23% reported a total blackout.
There was no estimated time when service would be restored.
At 2 p.m. affected customers were still voicing their frustrations about the outage on Twitter using the hashtag #comcastoutage.
