Electric Daisy Carnival To Begin 3-Night Run In Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (CBS SF/AP) – Electric Daisy Carnival returns to Las Vegas this weekend, with hundreds of thousands of revelers expected at the three-night music and entertainment festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

More than 250 musicians are set to perform at the nocturnal event billed as the largest dance music event in North America.

Shows run from sunset to sunrise Friday through Monday at the speedway about 12 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip.

Triple-digit temperatures posed a problem in 2015, when about 135,000 attended. Officials reported 1,400 medical calls and 27 people hospitalized during the three-night period. One person died of ecstasy intoxication.

Police and the Nevada Highway Patrol say traffic will be heavy on Interstate 15 and Las Vegas Boulevard North when the events end in the morning hours.
