Update: Elderly, at-risk woman missing in Sonoma County found dead
A Cazadero woman who had last been seen a week ago and was reported missing on Sunday has been found dead, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Johanna Lynch, 80, had early onset dementia and had apparently left her residence on foot; officials were not sure exactly when she headed out, but she had last been seen on Nov. 13.
A search and rescue team eventually located her on a property near here home on Tuesday morning, but she was deceased.
The sheriff's office joined with multiple agencies to try and find Lynch, employing drones, dogs, infrared cameras and volunteer firefighters to aid in the search. By Tuesday morning, there were upwards of 60 people looking for her, the sheriff's office said.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said foul play does not appear to be a factor in her passing, but her exact cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
