Police Standoff With Armed Man In East Jose Home Ends Peacefully

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – An armed man who threatened to hurt himself and was arrested after a nearly six-hour standoff that ended peacefully with police in San Jose has been identified as 43-year-old Jose Lopez.

Officers had responded at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a family disturbance in the 3200 block of Arthur Avenue.

Family members outside of the home said the man, later identified as Lopez, was armed with a gun and threatening to harm himself.

Police were eventually able to get Lopez to leave the home and then took him into custody, police Officer Albert Morales said.

Lopez's 6-year-old daughter was found safe inside the residence, according to Morales.

Lopez, a San Jose resident, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, making criminal threats and resisting arrest, Morales said.
