Magnitude 3.9 Earthquake Strikes East Of San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck in the hills east of San Jose Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS reports that the earthquake struck at 9:40 a.m. on the Calaveras Fault about five miles east of Alum Rock, at a depth of five miles.
Many in the South Bay, including KPIX 5 reporter Maria Medina, felt the quake.
I felt that earthquake in #SanJose. But I rolled my eyes at Mother Nature and told her: not today please.

The earthquake happened on the same morning that a major hailstorm dumped heavy amounts of hail in parts of the Bay Area, which did not go unnoticed by many on social media.
So far this morning we've had hail and a (minor) earthquake. I can only assume the locusts are on their way.

That's a lot for this CA girl on a Monday morning.
Hail in East Bay Hills. A sloppy Boston Marathon. Thunderstorms. Earthquakes....

Sounds like Mother Nature is beating by her own drum today. https://t.co/lfHtCAega3
Monday's earthquake in the Bay Area took place three minutes after a magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck the Bakersfield area, about 200 miles away.
There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries from either earthquake.
