Early-Morning Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Shakes Carmel Valley Along San Gregorio Fault

MENLO PARK (CBS SF) -- A 3.5 magnitude earthquake has been reported in unincorporated Monterey County Sunday morning.

The earthquake struck at 1:53 a.m., about 11 miles southwest of Carmel Valley Village and 17 miles south of Monterey, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake had a depth of 9.8 miles and occurred along the San Gregorio Fault, USGS officials said.
