Driver Killed In San Jose In Collision With VTA Train

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A collision between a 2007 Saturn and a light rail train in San Jose left one person dead and another injured Saturday evening, according to police.

The collision occurred at 7:39 p.m. at Capitol and Madden avenues when the Saturn's driver attempted a U-turn directly in front of a light-rail train operated by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency.

The driver was killed and a passenger was transported to a hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. There were no passengers on the train at the time of the collision, and the conductor was not injured, according to police.

Saturday's crash was San Jose's twenty-third traffic fatality so far in 2015, according to police.
