Drama Class Prop Gun Triggers Lockdown In Pacifica
PACIFICA (CBS SF) -- A Pacifica high school went on lockdown for 45 minutes Friday afternoon after a passerby reported seeing someone holding a shotgun that turned out to be a drama class prop, police said.
At about 1:22 p.m., the passerby called police to report a male holding a rifle or shotgun in the parking lot of Terra Nova High School located at 1450 Terra Nova Blvd.
The person was standing near a car with two others, police said.
Police contacted school staff and requested that they lock down the campus. Most of the students had already been dismissed for the day about an hour earlier, police said.
Police from Pacifica, South San Francisco and Daly City responded to the campus. The passerby pointed out the car where the three people had been standing with the gun, and police determined that it was a staff member's vehicle.
The owner of the car told police that the shotgun had been rendered inoperable and was a prop for drama class.
