Update: Separate overnight shootings in Oakland leave 2 dead, 3 injured
OAKLAND -- Police in Oakland are investigating two separate shootings overnight that left two people dead and three people including a juvenile injured, authorities said.
Police said the first shooting occurred Saturday night at about 11:09 p.m. on the 9500 block of Birch Street. Officers arrived on scene and located three gunshot victims. One of the victims, juvenile, was transported to Children's Hospital. The other two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said a suspect was taken into custody at the scene. The Oakland Police Department Homicide Division also responded and began their investigation.

The names of the two victims who died are being withheld pending notification to next-of-kin.
According to police, the second shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Oakland police responded to the 1300 block of 91st Avenue near International Boulevard ShotSpotter activation in the area followed by a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene and located two gunshot victims. Both victims were transported to an area hospital. One of the victims -- a Richmond resident -- is currently listed in grave condition. Police said he is not expected to survive. The second victim -- an El Sobrante resident -- sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Oakland Homicide are also investigating that incident. The identity of the victims is not being released at this time. Police did not provide suspect information in the second shooting.
