Dating Site Uses DNA Test To Find Compatible Partners
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Dating sites are getting more personalized to help you find 'the one,' using DNA testing to determine if a suitor is a genetically compatible match.
A Canadian company called Instant Chemistry collects the DNA and screens for generic factors that they say will lead to a higher rate of compatible match-ups.
According to the company's website, "up to 40% of physical attraction can be determined through your genes alone...It's a fact that genetically compatible partners are more physically attracted to each other. They also experience higher fertility rates and have healthier children."
Then it's up to a partnering match-making service to set us users with a compatible person.
"We're looking at a bunch of genes in the immune system that are highly correlated to physical attraction, the fertility rates and health of children," Instant Chemistry co-founder Jeremy Bluvol said.
The matches are made based on some unexpected characteristics.
"We mate with someone with a different immune system from us," Instant Chemistry co-founder Jeremy Bluvol said.
Customers buy a home test kit for about $450, register their sample online, send it off to the company for screening. Right now the service operates primarily in Canada.
