DASHCAM VIDEO: Uber Driver Attacked, Pepper Sprays Drunk Passenger

COSTA MESA, Orange County (CBS SF) -- A dashcam video captured an alleged drunk passenger raining blows on a Uber driver in Southern California.

The driver, Edward Caban, pepper-sprayed the man and called police.

The camera was rolling for several minutes before the attack, showing the inebriated fare falling over and unable to give the driver coherent instructions to his home. When the driver ordered him to exit the car, the passenger became very angry and slapped him repeatedly in the face.

Caban posted the attack on YouTube.

The passenger, identified as 32-year-old Benjamin Golden was arrested for assault on a taxi driver and public intoxication, according to Costa Mesa police.

In a statement, San Francisco-based Uber said: "We've been in contact with Mr. Caban and are thankful he is doing ok … The rider involved in this incident has been permanently banned."
