Police standoff with woman barricaded in Daly City home ends after 27 hours

A woman in Daly City who barricaded herself indoors for over a day after allegedly charging at officers was finally taken into custody Sunday night, according to police.

Crisis negotiators engaged with the 45-year-old woman for 27 hours after she charged at officers and then barricaded herself in her Daly City home.

The case began around 6:44 p.m. Saturday when police responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance on the 300 block of 88th Street. According to police, officers met the woman at the front door of her home but she allegedly charged them with a large kitchen knife.

They retreated and contained the woman inside her home. She was alone and refused to leave her home for 27 hours, according to police.

At 10:38 p.m. Sunday, a SWAT team successfully took the woman into custody. She will be booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes, according to Sgt. Matthew Ciucci of Daly City police.

The identity of the woman has not yet been released.
