Daily Madden: Players Back Jackson's Return As Warriors' Coach
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Despite the Warriors' outstanding season, which ended with a hard-fought seventh game playoff loss to the Clippers Saturday night, team management hasn't said whether Mark Jackson will continue to coach the team.
"I think you have to be a little closer to it to really understand what really is going on there," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "From afar, Mark Jackson's done a great job... They build a team, they're competitive, I mean they're that close to beating the Clippers... There has to be something there that we don't know."
Under Jackson, the Warriors have been in the playoffs two years in a row for the first time since 1990-92. But there have been off-court controversies involving the departure of two assistant coaches.
"The players love Mark Jackson, Mark Jackson loves the players," Madden said. "I'm not sure exactly what (the controversy) is." (6:40)
For his part, star guard Steph Curry said after Saturday's game that he stands behind the coach.
