Daily Madden: The Giants' Crowd Noise Solution And Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater's Chance Of Facing Green Bay
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — Brandon Crawford's slam off Edinson Volquez in the fourth inning led the Giants to an 8-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League wild-card game Wednesday night, sending San Francisco on to Washington for the best-of-five Division Series starting Friday.
The Coach watched the game and said there was a lesson to be learned.
"All these people who talk about, "Oh it's a hard place to play going on the road, you know the crowd, the noise—we can't take it!' I think there was a great lesson right there from the Giants on how to take the crowd out of the game," he said.
"They went from yelling, chanting—Bumgarner goes out there and kind of mows them down for a while, Brandon Crawford hits a home run with the bases loaded— and then they're all quiet. And then pretty soon, they're going to their houses—they leave. They leave the venue…that's the way you do it if you're worried about crowd noise: shut them up and play like those guys did."

In The NFL, the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers will meet at Lambeau Field on CBS Thursday Night Football. Both teams sit at 2-2 after the first quarter of the 2014 season.
Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had great career start on Sunday until the fourth quarter. He passed for 317 yards and ran for a touchdown in Minnesota's 41-28 win over Atlanta, but then sprained his ankle late in the game and was limited in practice this week.
Madden doesn't think he should play.
"I think if he's really questionable, I don't think you play him. I mean he hasn't practiced and you put a guy out there who's a rookie, injured and all those things. I mean the deck is really stacked against him and I think that you have to be careful with these young quarterbacks," he said.
"They see enough and everyone tries to mess with them and show them one thing, do another. And they're going to blitz him and go after him. I think that somehow, you have to protect him--maybe a little protection them from themselves."
