Daily Madden: The Coach Looks At The NFL's Week 5 Games
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — It's Week 5 of the NFL and Coach Madden told KCBS about some of the more intriguing matchups.
Cincinnati Bengals (3-0) at New England Patriots (2-2)
The Coach said that despite the Bengals being of the NFL's undefeated teams, he doesn't believe in them.
"I just have a hard time not believing that they're pretty good, but believing that they're an elite Super Bowl-type team—but they may prove me wrong and I know last year, I used to jump on and off that bandwagon," he said.
Madden thinks it will be a good game for them, however, he thinks the Patriots have bounce back, after their loss to 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
"They didn't look good at all. Tom Brady didn't look good; he's doesn't have much of a cast, their defense wasn't good and so you just think that New England can't be as bad as they looked last week and they're going to have to have some kind of bounce back," he said.
Baltimore Ravens (3-1) at Indianapolis Colts (2-2)
This matchup is one, on paper, that appears to look best.
"That's the type of game that you have the tough strong team against Andrew Luck, who I have so much respect for," Madden says. "I think Indianapolis is going to have their day," he said.
Arizona Cardinals (3-0) at Denver Broncos (2-1)
This is one game that Madden said he is especially looking forward to watching.
"I just like watching Payton Manning play. This is a tough game to play and Pro Football is hard and when you can make it look easy like he can and find guys wide open when you see other guys struggle with it," Madden said. "That's the thing that used to marvel me about Joe Montana. I'd watch Joe Montana and he took what everyone was trying to do and he made look easy—and he was fun to watch," Madden said.
