Daily Madden: Still Too Early To Say Who's Best In The NFL
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Which team is the best in the NFL?
"I think Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers are playing better than anyone, but that doesn't mean anything," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "You get yourself in position by Thanksgiving -- you know that Thanksgiving weekend -- to make a run. And if you're in the position where you can make a run and improve at the end of the season and get better, that team is usually the team that is going to be best in the playoffs."
Thanksgiving is an important date for the 49ers and the Seahawks as they square off at Levi's Stadium.
At 6-4, they're tied for second place in the NFC West three games behind Arizona.
Five NFC teams have better records, so both San Francisco and Seattle need a strong finish just to keep their playoff hopes alive. "Every time that you think that one team is the best team too early, you're wrong," Madden said.
"We've gone through this -- Seattle is the best team, Denver is the best team, I'm not going to fall for Arizona being the best team. Those things will be determined. But I think if you say anything now, it's just a guess." (6:25)
