Daily Madden: John Expects A Fight From 49ers
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - While the 49ers are playing their last two games for pride, the San Diego Chargers are fighting for a playoff spot. They meet Saturday at Levi's Stadium in a game that will be broadcast on KPIX 5 at 5:25 p.m.
"I still believe in the 49ers," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I still believe that they're one of the better teams and they've just been dormant for awhile."
The 49ers have lost three in a row and were eliminated from the playoffs with Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. At 8-6 in a division already clinched by the Broncos, the Chargers need a win to stay in the race for a wildcard spot.
"I'm not a big believer in San Diego," Madden said. "I like Philip Rivers and the way that he can play, but to me San Diego is still San Diego. I don't see them as a playoff team."
KCBS morning anchor Stan Bunger asked John if he expected the Chargers to 'stub their toe' in a game they need to win against a team already eliminated from the post-season.
"They can stub their toe if the 49ers make them stub toe," Madden said. (7:30)
