Daily Madden: Hungry Sanchez Sends Giants Fans Home Happy
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Backup catcher Hector Sanchez's RBI single ended a 12-inning 3-2 Giants victory over the Dodgers at AT&T Park Tuesday night. The game lasted almost five hours.
"I heard (Sanchez) was hungry and he wanted to go eat," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew, surprised that he wasn't snacking in the dugout or clubhouse.
"I've always thought that, in baseball, they have food all around the place during the game... I always thought that they could sneak a bite now and then because I know they have food around. Football not so much -- I mean you have sliced oranges or something."
Rangers slugger Prince Fielder reportedly once grabbed some nachos from a fan when chasing a foul ball into the stands.
"Prince looks like the kind of guy that's never gone five hours without a meal," John said. "This is from a guy that knows. I'm not talking holier than thou." (7:20)
