Daily Madden: Are The Raiders Doing Homework On DeSean Jackson?
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Raiders are rumored to be interested in star free agent receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday following reports of gang affiliations, which Jackson denies.
"He was a good player, I thought, at Cal coming out. I though he was a good player at Philadelphia. You know, he's a big play guy," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I don't know that his deportment grade was very high anywhere he was. But then when you start talking about some of these other things, I really don't know. I think that any team that is going to do anything with him really needs to do their homework."
Madden said he thinks Jackson would be a better fit for a team like the 49ers than the Raiders.
"(The 49ers) have a solid core of players. They have a solid foundation," Madden said. "The Raiders are trying to still re-form their foundation... That's different. If you have the strength of a core group and a foundation, it's easier to bring a guy in, and then he's outside the circle. If he has to be part of the circle, then that's more difficult." (7:05)
