Daily Madden: All-Star Selections Honor The A's
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Six players from the Oakland A's have been selected for the All-Star game, the most since 1975. "That's great for the A's," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "They don't get a lot of attention... Playing on the West Coast is tough. All the news gathering is (during) the earlier games. With the three hour time difference, they do get kind of put on the side a little. I think they're being honored (with the selections.)"
Josh Donaldson, Scott Kazmir, Sean Doolittle, Derek Norris, Brandon Moss and Yoenis Cespedes are the A's All-Stars. Madison Bumgarner and Hunter Pence will represent the Giants.
Joining the A's on the American League squad is Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, playing his final season. "There are a lot guys that get stuff and you think they really don't deserve that," Madden said. "But here's a guy who does... He deserves it. Right now, he's baseball to me."
