Cubs Favored Over Giants To Win World Series?

Cubs favored over the Giants to win World Series? Say it ain't so!
Extra, Extra, read all about it!

Forget the drought for a moment. Put the Iranian nuke deal out of your mind. Have your husband postpone that surgery. There is much more pressing news at hand.

The Vegas odds are out on the upcoming baseball season and it's the latest sign that Armageddon is at hand. The Washington Nationals are 5-1 favorites to win the World Series. Right behind them? The Chicago Cubs! The Chicago "freaking" Cubs!

Well down the list is baseball's dynasty. You might have heard of them. The San Francisco Giants? You know, the boys by the bay who won three rings in five years? The Giants are.. wait for it.. 18-1 long shots!

Sure, I know the Cubs signed Jon Lester and have more prospects than a Vegas strip joint on a Friday night, but we're talking about a baseball organization that hasn't won the World Series since Theodore Roosevelt was president.

My grandparents were still picking up fallen bricks from the 1906 earthquake. In 1908 most women washed their hair only once a month which leads me to more proof why you should never, ever bet on the Cubs.

It's called the Curse of the Billy Goat. In 1945 the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern was asked to leave a World Series game against the Detroit Tigers because his pet goat was stinking up Wrigley Field. The owner, Billy Sianis, was so outraged he shouted out, "Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more." And they haven't.

A manager at the one of the sports books claims the Cubs are an annual sentimental pick. To me, it clearly indicates the economy is booming if people have money to burn.

I get that the Giants don't look very convincing on paper. But how did that paper look in 2010, 2012, and 2014? The paper was worth about as much as a confederate currency.

I don't know about you, but if I've got one-grand to burn, I'm going up in flames with the Giants. I'm hangin' my hat on the Boch and Sabean's grand plan at the trade deadline.

I'm going with a Lincecum comeback and that third baseman replacing Pablo. What's his name again?

Cubs over the Giants? Baaaaaaaaa!

See you on TV.
