Costco Shopper Punches 78-Year-Old Man Over Nutella Waffle Sample
BURBANK, Calif. (AP) — A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of elder abuse after he was accused of punching another Costco shopper over free Nutella waffle samples.
The Los Angeles Times reports that 24-year-old Derrick Gharabighi, of Burbank, is accused of taking several samples Sunday morning when a 78-year-old shopper told him to only take one. Witnesses say Gharabighi then punched the older man in the face.
Burbank police Officer Cindy Guillen says the older man was hospitalized with a one-inch cut and swelling above his eye.
Gharabighi is expected to appear in court this week.
