Cooler Weather, Calm Winds Good News For Firefighters Battling Huge Napa Blaze

ST. HELENA (CBS SF) -- A battle to extinguish a wildfire consuming thousands of acres in Northern Napa County is being aided by mild weather.

Light winds of only about five miles per hour kept the fire from spreading further than it could have, according to KPIX 5 Meteorologist Brian Hackney.

"It could be worse," Hackney said.

The fire had consumed at least 2,500 acres by 6 p.m. Tuesday

Temperatures cooler than Monday's scorching heat were also making the battle easier for firefighters.
