Fatal crash in Concord closes stretch of Kirker Pass Road
A fatal crash during wet weather in the East Bay shut down Kirker Pass Road in Concord Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Concord Police said at about 3:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of Kirker Pass near Hess Road on a report of a solo vehicle collision. Investigators determined the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a fixed traffic sign.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it was not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. The victim's identity was withheld until family members were notified.
The crash shut down part of Kirker Pass Road, which reopened around 8:45 p.m.
