CHP Reopens I-880 Off Ramp After Search For Robbery Suspect

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An off-ramp from southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland has reopened after being shut down for over three hours while officers searched for a fleeing robbery suspect, the California Highway Patrol said.

At the request of Oakland police, the CHP shut down the Fruitvale Avenue off-ramp from southbound Highway 880 in Oakland. A Sig-alert was issued at 2:24 p.m.

According to the CHP, Oakland police were searching for a robbery suspect fleeing on foot in the area. A CHP K-9 officer responded to the scene to assist officers in the search.

The police activity came to an end and the Sig-alert was canceled at about 6 p.m., CHP Officer.
