Santa Rosa Man Arrested For Allegedly Trying To Commit Lewd Acts With Minor

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- Santa Rosa police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of trying to commit lewd acts with a minor.

Kenneth Blanton Jr., 38, of Santa Rosa, allegedly advertised on a social media site that he was interested in having a sexual relationship with a 'young boi,' Sgt. Terry Anderson said.

A detective in the Santa Rosa Police Department's domestic violence and sexual assault investigations team saw the ad and began communicating with the solicitor, portraying himself as a 13-year-old boy, Anderson said.

The detective learned the solicitor preferred boys 13 or older, and the detective had a series of often lewd online conversations with the solicitor, Anderson said.

The solicitor asked to meet the boy to have sex, and on Tuesday detectives and police officers arrested Blanton Jr. when he arrived at an arranged meeting at Summerfield Road and Wyoming Drive, Anderson said.

Blanton realized he was being followed and went to Yulupa Avenue near Sonoma Avenue where he was arrested, Anderson said.

Blanton was booked in the Sonoma County jail for attempted lewd acts with a minor under age 14, lewd conversations with a minor and arriving at a location for the purpose of a lewd act with a minor, Anderson said.

Blanton posted bail this morning and was released from custody, a jail spokesman said.
