5-Year-Old Found In Backseat With Loaded Guns, Drugs During Fairfield Traffic Stop

FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Police suspect a five-year-old was endangered after Fairfield officers found guns and drugs in a car the child was occupying Monday evening.

Around 6:20 p.m., members of the Fairfield Police Department's special operations team were conducting traffic stops in the area of East Tabor and Kidder avenues when they stopped a car for a mechanical violation, police said.

Upon contact with the occupants, police said officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside and began searching the occupants and the car.

Police said officers found a gun in the front waistband of a 14-year-old boy along with Xanax pills and marijuana that were in his possession.

Police said the five-year-old was released to the custody of a family member.
