'Chewbacca Mom' Visits Lucasfilm and Facebook Headquarters
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – She's having a whirlwind of a time after Candace Payne's video went viral all over the internet. Payne is best known for her highly infectious Facebook Live video that the Texas mother shot in her car at a Kohls parking lot. The video captured her donning a Chewbacca mask for her birthday and the result was a non-stop laugh fest that took the world wide web by storm.
As a thank you for her "gift of laughter," Kohls gave Payne Chewbacca masks for the rest of her family and $2,500 in gift cards to their stores. In addition, Good Morning America invited Payne for an interview and went for a ride with CBS talk show host James Corden and Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams.
Payne's latest adventure sent her to Lucasfilm in San Francisco's Presidio where she met with StarWars.com's weekly online talk show "The Star Wars Show." Payne captured her arrival with a Facebook Live video, shot in-front of the world famous Yoda Fountain. Naturally, she geeked-out in her own way. Watch her reaction here:
Then Payne was off to Palo Alto and a visit to Facebook Headquarters. There she met with those who developed the tool that brought her to the masses, the Facebook Live developer crew. Payne was given a plaque that read "Facebook Star, Candace Payne."
Payne's original Facebook Live video has been watched for over 140 Million views with over 3.2 Million shares on Facebook. See it here.
